Using a classic Irish coffee glass mug pour boiling water from a kettle into the glass over pouring it and let it sit a minute then dump out. Just to warm it up. Add a shot of Kahula, a shot of mint Baily's, a shot of Jamisons, add coffee if their's any room left. Well ok ...if your WIMP add whip cream now lets get the day started!!

Sheet Bend

I mentioned in my last posting that boats don't have ropes they have lines. They also have sheets, halyards and assorted deck gear, winches, eyes, cleats and various block & tackle.

Halyards raise the sails. To avoid going on deck and leaving the safty of the cockpit when at sea, you run the halyards through a series of blocks or pully's to a winch in the cockpit. Lines that control the sails are called sheets. They are also led through some blocks to a winch in the cockpit. They are referred to as “port” sheet line or “starboard” sheet line each led to a separate winche in the cockpit.

Winches can either be 1:1, 2:1, or 3:1. They also come in various sizes. I will discuss these in future posts. September Song has a dozen assorted winches on her. Some self tailing some not. The ones that are self tailing secure the line to a ring on top of the winch otherwise you need to secure the line to a cleat while the line is under load from the sail.

The sheet lines are secured to a eye in the sail by way of a Sheet Bend knot. Which is frquenrly confused with with the popular Bowline knot. The sheet bend is probably the most commonly used knot on a sailboat.

To use a sheet bend you make a loop in one of the lines with the working part over the standing

Captains Creole Seasonings

21/2 tbs Paprika

2 tbs Salt

2 tbs Fresh Ground Black Pepper.

2 tbs Garlic Powder

2 tbs Onion Powder

1 tbs Cayene powder

1 tbs Oregano

1 tbs Theyme

1 tbs Basil

mix well.

CITRUS BUTTER

2 tbs chopped challots

1 bay leaf

1/2 tsp black peppercorns

1/2 chopped fresh thyme

1/4 cup heavy cream

1/2 lb< 2 sticks> cold unsalted butter,cut into pieces

Combine all ingredients except cream and butter, in medium sauce pan and bring to a boil cook until reduced in half about 3 min. Add cream return to boil and cook until reduced in 1/2 about another 3 min. Reduce to medium low and wisk in butter one tbs at a time, remove from heat from time to time and continue until the sauce is thick enough to coat back of spoon--strain through a fine mesh strainer into a bowl and cover to keep warm.

Citrus Cedar Planked Fish

This works pretty much for any of your flaky white fish. Works very well with cat, perch, cod, Tipilaia, trout, bass and also the reef fishes like snapper and grouper I haven't used it on the steak fishes like tuna and sswordfish.

You must use fresh not store bought horseradish for this recipe. You can purchase cedar planks from any lumbar yard they must be untreated. Submerge the planks in a pail of warm water for 45 min. Place a pot on top to keep submerged

1/2 lb hoarseradish root “grated”

2 tsp graded orange zest

1 tsp orange juice

1 tsp lemon zest

1 tsp lemon juice

1 tsp lime zest

1 tsp lime juice

1 tsp chopped fresh cilantro

1 tsp sugar

1/2 tsp kosher salt

4 8oz skinless fish

2 tsp Capt Creole

2 tsp EVO

1 Recipe Citrus Butter Sauce

4 10 in cedar planks

Pre heat the oven to 375 degree's plave the planks on a cookie sheet and pre heat for 15 min.--Meantime combine the hoarseradish, citrus zests, juices, cilantro, sugar and salt in a bowl and stir well to blend.

Season both sides of fish with the captains creole seasonings. Remove the cookie sheet with the cedar planks from the oven, rub 1/2 tsp of EVO. Place a filet of fish on each plank, spread the citrus crust evenly over all the fish and bake for 15 minutes, then increase the heat to broil and broil for abought 5 min. Until the citrus spread is golden brown and just starting to brown around the edges

Transfer the planks to four large dinner plates and drizzel with the citrus butter sauce enjoy!

ROASTED SQUASH MUSHROOMS AND POTATOES

21/2 lbs assorted russet and red potatoes

1 Acorn Squash peeled cut into 11/2 in cubes
1 Butternut Squash cut into 11/2 in cubes after peeling
2 cups button mushrooms
1 Tbs Thyme
1Tbs Rosemary
3 cloves garlic
3/4 Tbs black pepper
1 Tbs salt
1/4 cup EVO

Cut and quarter the potatoes-and mushrooms--in a mixing bowl mix all the ingrediants add the potatoes and mix well till all potatoes squash and mushroomes are well coated with mix

place in oven on a roasting pan and turn every ten min 

bake for 45-60 minutes

As long as we are roasting things might as well but some asparaagus in the oven also. Cut off the ends of a bunch of asparagus season with Captains Creole Seasonings and EVO Mix well put in the oven and roast for about 15 min.

THE PHOENIX

There are a great deal of ancient mysteries most of these
mysteries can be solved if we understand one word---
PHOENIX----Which is a derivative of the Greek name for
Phoenicians. Ancient people who inhabited the east coast of
the Mediterranean Sea. Phoenicians refer to themselves as
Sidonians. Their capital city was Sidon. The Sidonians
were considered masters of sorcery and magic. They claim
to poses a civilization that goes back Thirty Thousand Years
and Ancient Historians agree with this.
Sidonian navigators were in demand by Egyptian,
Babylonian, Persian, and Greeks. The Greek alphabet was
transferred directly from Phoenician/Sidonian script, and
applied to the sounds of the language of the Greeks. Hence
the word Phonetic! The modern English alphabet is based
on the ancient Phoenician/Sidonian script. The majority of
the knowledge thought to be of Greek origin was given to
them first by the Sidonians.
Pythagoras considered the ancient father of Free Masonry
was schooled in Sidonia. The first ancient Phonetic text in
existence---The Old Testament--- was written in
Phoenician characters.
The first Temple of the Hebrews was built in Jerusalem by
Artisans’ from Tyre, A city that traded Phoenicia capital
status with Sidon.
The Phoenician/Sidon language in ancient civilization is
a long guarded Occult Secret. The Phoenix represents a time
when extraterrestrials and mankind existed together on
earth. The Phoenix is the land of the decent of the (sons of
God) described in Genesis 6.
According to the history of every major civilization in the
Middle East, Phoencia was the first place where "Beings”
from heaven came to earth. The unions with these "Beings"
with the Daughters of Adam and Eve produced high bred
offspring in Hebrew "Nephilim" the fallen ones
.According to the book of Enoch, the book of Jubilee and
other ancient texts, the exact point of decent of the (sons of
God) was Mount Hermon in Phoenicia. Through the
influence of these heavenly Beings and their offspring, Man
became gifted with knowledge surpassing any that had yet
existed. Then came the flood and the Phoenicians’ perished
along with the knowledge.
The PHOENIX heavenly and supernatural Bird-- Keeper of
secrets both past and Future-- was consumed in a Fire of
his own making! In other words the knowledge given to
man was lost in global Disaster. According to Genesis 6 the
destruction of earth by the flood was in response to the
interaction of the (sons of God) with the daughters of Adam
and Eve.
The first century Christians considered the book of Enoch to
be inspired if not Authentic. They relied on it to
understand many things from angles to wind, sun, and
stars. Many of the concepts used by Jesus seem to be
connected to terms and Ideas of the Book of Enoch .Since
any book, including this one, is open to interpretation,
Enoch posed problems for some theologians. Instead of
reexamining their own theology, they chose to dispose of
that which went counter to their own beliefs. Some of the
visions in Enoch are believed to point to the consummation
of the age in conjunction with Christ’s second coming which
some believe took place in AD 70. (In the destruction of
Jerusalem).Enoch was declared a fake by Hilary, Jerome,
and Augustine. And was lost to western Christianity for
over 1000 years. The Book of Enoch seems to be the missing
link between Jewish tradition and Christians.
The Ethiopian Coptic church holds the Book of Enoch as
part of its official spiritual cannon. It was widely known
and read the first three centuries after the Death of Christ.
This and many other books were banned after the council
of Laodicea. Scottish explorer James Bruce rediscovered the
Book of Enoch in Ethiopia in 1773.
Enoch discusses the fallen Angles--the sons of God-- there
were 200 of them in the days of Jared—and they descended
on to the summit of Mount Hermon and these are the names
of their leaders. ARKLBA, RAMEEL, KOKABLEL, TAMLEL,
RAMLEL, DANEL, EZEQEEL, BARAQLJAL, AZAEL,
AMAROS, BATAREL, ANANEL, ZAQLEL, SAMSAPEEL,
SATAREL, TUREL, JOMJAEL, SARIEL These are the chiefs
of ten.
All of them went and took wives for themselves. And the
wives gave birth to HYBRED CHILDREN, called NEPHILIM.
The Giants of Geneses 6. The angles started to teach the men
of the earth charms and spells and the cutting of Roots, and
made them acquainted with plant life. Azael taught them
to work with METAL to make swords, knives, Breastplates,
shields, bracelets and ornaments. They were taught the use
of ANTIMONY, and the beautification of eyelids, and the
coloring of dyes. Semjaza taught the casting of SPELLS,
and root cutting. Armaros, taught counter spells, Baraqijal
taught astrology, Kokabel taught the constelations and
portents. Ezeqeel taught knowledge of the clouds, Araqlel
the signs of the Earth, Shamslel the signs of the sun, and
Sarlel, the course of the moon.
At this time Noah was 500 years old, Noah had three sons,
Shem, Ham, and Japheth. The first son of Canaan, (son of
Ham) Ham was one of the original occupants of Noah's Arc
and Noah's youngest son.
By the Angels ( extraterrestrials) also known as Watchers,
taking human women for themselves and having children,
this according to Enoch offended God and he was to destroy
all the spirits of Lust, and the children of the watchers,
because they had wronged mankind.
He was to destroy all of mankind up to that point and start
again. But he Spared Noah and his family.

The secrets of the Occult are hidden in numbers, metaphors,
and symbols. Numbers are the key to ancient views of
cosmology--spirituality--the physical being of earth--to
the evolution of the present human race. All systems of
religions, mysticism, are based on numerals the importance
of the number "33" symbolizes the highest level of
spirituality and consciousness attainable by humans.
"33'&"3" are both prominent in Occult teachings. In order to
understand "33" you need to understand navigation, which
was once an Occult science passed from the Phoenicians, to
the Greeks, to the Egyptians to the Muslims, to the Templers
to the Masons. The compass and the square are also used in
navigation and map making and are the symbol of
freemasonry.
The calculation of speed and location were once considered
to be the highest form of Sacred Knowledge. Navigation
unites time--space--earth with the heavens. The number
"3" is essential to this process. Without the geometry of the
three sided triangle establishing location and distance on a
map or "triangulation" would be impossible. Navigation not
only predicts the location of a traveler but also the time a
traveler will arrive, or estimated time of arrival (ETA). The
most powerful secret held by the Occult is related to this
concept but taken to a higher level.
The navigator can determine location in space and time by
using increments of Longitude and Latitude. These
increments can be used in the earth itself to reveal the
appointed time of our Destiny.
33.33 degrees of the Great Circle of Earth equals 2012
miles. Mount Hermon in Phoenicia (Iraq) the first location
of extraterrestrial influence upon man lies 33.33 degrees
north and 33.33 degrees east. 2012 miles from the equator
and 2012 miles from the Paris Meridian.
The Paris Meridian was used as the Prime Meridian
throughout history, until the meridian was changed under
the influence of the Vatican and Masons. Many ancient
structures are aligned with the Paris Meridian. The knight
Templers used the Paris Meridian as the Prime Meridian.
The Paris Meridian is 2.20 degrees east of Greenwich
Meridian. Greenwich Meridian was established at the
Prime Meridian Conference in Washington DC in 1884.
While the Latitude measurement is standard at 33.33
degrees north from the equator to Mount Hermon. The
Longitude of the earth based on the Paris Meridian seems to
have been regarded as increasingly sensitive due to the
wider availability of knowledge during the Industrial
Revolution and needed to be obscured.
The International Meridian Conference of 1884 was
strongly influenced by the Vatican and Alfred Pike the
KKK, Freemason as well as others of the Illuminati. 2012 is
the nautical miles in 33.33 degrees of the Earth. 2012.9
correspond to the year -month-day that the Mayan
calendar will end. Dec 21, 2012. This is also the time
that their serpent god the founder of civilization
QUETZALCOAT will return to the earth from another
dimension.
Does the location of Mount Hermon set in motion a new
world order in the year 2012? Dates and years were
commonly measured from the start of a reign of a King or
the founding of a new city in antiquity. Our modern
calendar is aligned to the birth of a messiah of Israel, Jesus
Christ There is a debate as to when Jesus was actually
born. Some say 11BC, 3BC, 1AD, and 6AD. Also our
modern calendar by various Roman Emperors and Popes.
There has already been a 2012 BC, which was
unremarkable in respect to knowledge.
Finding a critical respect between 2012AD, and our present
age may be very important in realizing how important
2012 are in time, rather than concentrating on the
calendar. If the (sons of God) used 33.33 with 2012 on
Mount Hermon navigationally, perhaps they have placed
an additional marker, coordinating 2012 with the year of
their return as a form of Triangulation. It appears that they
very well might have placed a marker, let’s review Roswell.
It is a marker consisting of ancient and sacred numbers that
puts 2012 in our present time. The crash site of Roswell sits
at 33.33 North and 2012 miles to the equator. When 33.33
N Is multiplied by PI (3.1415926572) the result is 104
degrees which is the Longitude of the crash site.
The value of PI is one of the most important numbers in
geometry. Without an understanding of this number the
geometry of Building, Architecture, and Navigation would
not be possible. Many historians use the attainment of PI as
a parameter for the True classification of a civilization.
At Roswell if 33.00 to 33.59 are multiplied by PI, the
results will give fixes for a (LOP) line of position for the
flight path that the UFO disc traveled before impact. This
line is verified by eyewitness accounts, from the southeast to
the northwest. This has been recorded in the Roswell Daily
Record July 8th, 1947. The only place that 33.degrees
north 104 degrees east, is Roswell. South of the equator the
coordinates log in an ocean or an uninhabited mountain
top, as they do on the eastern hemisphere. The odds of a
crash at 33 degrees north 104 degrees west would be
1000,000./1 according to statisticians.
In other words Roswell was not an accident, but was there a
hidden message in the incident.
19.47 Or 19.5 is a universal number signifying the meeting
of a tetrahedron, with a sphere. The latitude of 19.47 is
the three parts of a four sided tetrahedron. Touch north or
south of the equator if the fourth point is anchored at a
pole of a rotating sphere If the number 19.47 were found in
an extraterrestrial radio signal, SETI scientists would have
proof that broadcasters understand advanced PLATONIC
GEOMETRY. The Roswell incident numeral connects 19.47
with the date, latitude, longitude, and distance earths
orientation and dimensions in space are part of the Roswell
from the equator of the impact event itself. In the event that
equation. The earth is 21,600. Miles around. This
equation is based upon the ratio of 360X60--first used by
the Phoenicians’ and still in use by modern navigators.
6480 is 1/4 of the total years of 25,920. That it takes earth
to complete one circuit through the zodiac. 6480 is unique
because it is the duration a series of global cataclysms left
in earth’s historic and geographic record.
In the event at Roswell, 19.47 and 21,600, 6480 and 33.33
degrees which is the equivalent of 2012.9 nautical miles
from the equator. This raises the possibilities of 2012
marking the year of the return of Beings who first descended
to earth.
When you divide 21,600 by
33.33....21,600/33.33=648.06480648064 and divided by
19.47 yields 33.28--33.28 is the exact Latitude of the
Roswell crash site--33.28 X PI-- yields longitude of 104.56
degrees..which is the exact Longitude of Roswell crash site.
2012 is the predicted return of the FALLEN ANGLES. Can
be calculated by taking the Latitude X year
--33.28X19.47=64.80--Between July 1947 and March
2012 there are exactly 64.80 years.
It is significant that the debris and bodies of Roswell Crash
were recovered on July 4, 1947. America was founded on
the same date 1776--This Date was chosen as the
Formation for a specific reason.
The secret destiny is a new world order ruled by a King
with super natural powers. The King was descended of a
divine race. 364.864 Or 365 days in a year. When 6480
is divided by 1776
6480/17.76=364.864--
364.864X1776=648/33.28=19,470--
1776/17.076=104.0056 which is the exact Longitude of
Roswell Crash site.

The Chinese Roswell

High in the Himalayan mountains, the Bayan-Kara-Ula Range,
on the boarders of China and Tibet - a team of archeologists
were excited by the discovery of a series of interlocking caves
strange in appearance because the caves appeared to be forged or
cut with a high heat source, they were more like interlocking
tunnels with underground storage rooms with squared walls
with a glaze on them. In the caves or storage rooms they were
excited to find a strange burial site in them.
There were ancient but neatly arranged, burial sites and
within them the skeletal remains of a strange people. They
had extremely large heads and strangely formed, they had
puny, spindly bodies, about 3 1/2 feet in length.
At first, it had been thought that the caves had been the
home of a hitherto unknown species of ape but as the
leader of the team - the Chinese archeologist, Professor Chi
Pu Tei - pointed out, "Who ever heard of apes burying each
other?" It was while studying the skeletons that one of the
team stumbled on a large, round stone disk, half buried in
the dust on the floor of the cave. The team gathered round
the discovery, turning it this way and that. It looked,
absurdly, groove like a kind of 'Stone Age Gramophone
record'. There was a hole in the center and a fine, spiral
attached to the rim. The discs were nine inches in diameter,
3/4 inch thick, and in the exact center was a perfectly
round 3/4 in hole, and spiraling out from it was a groove
making it look like a Stone Age record for a phonograph.
This one disc was dated to 12,000 years old. Older by far
than the great pyramids of Egypt.
Closer inspection, however, showed that the grove was, in
fact, a continuous spiraling line of closely written
characters. The object was a 'Record'....in more ways than
one. Only nobody at the time-in the year 1938--possessed
the key to its incredible message. The disc was labeled and
filed away among other finds in the area. Even those who
knew of its existence knew nothing of its meaning. Many
experts tried to translate the hieroglyphs in the twenty years
the disc languished in Peking.
They all failed. It was not until another professor -Dr. Tsum
Um Nui - broke the code and started to decipher the
'speaking grooves' that the extraordinary implications of the
disc were realized, realized by a select few. The outside
world remained in ignorance. The professor’s conclusions
were so shattering that they were officially suppressed. The
Peking Academy of Pre-History forbade him to publish his
findings.
Two years later, in 1965, the professor and four of his
colleagues were finally given permission to reveal their
theory. It appeared under the unusual title---" The
Grooved Script Concerning Space-Ships which, as recorded
on the Discs, Landed on Earth 12,000 Years Ago"
The 'Records' - 716 of the grooved discs were later
uncovered in the same caves-told an astonishing story of a
'space probe' by the inhabitants of another planet which
came to grief in the Bayan-Kara-Ula mountain range.
The strange, spiral script told how the peaceful intentions of
the 'aliens' had been misunderstood and how many of them
were hunted down and killed by members of the Ham
Tribe, who lived in neighboring caves.
According to Tsum Um Nui, one of the lines of the
hieroglyphs read, “The Droppa came down from the clouds
in their aircraft. Our men, women, and children hid in
the caves ten times before sunrise When at last they
understood the sign language of the Droppas, they realized
that the newcomers had peaceful intentions...Another section
expressed 'Regret' by the Ham Tribe that the aliens
'spaceship' had crashed-landed in such a remote and
inaccessible mountain range and that there had been no
way of building a new one to enable the Droppas to return
to their own planet.
In the years since the discovery of the first disc, archeologists
and anthropologists had learned more about the isolated
Bayan-Kara-Ula area. And much of the information
seemed to corroborate the bizarre story recorded on the
discs, Legend still preserved in the area spoke of small,
gaunt, yellow faced men who 'came from the clouds long,
long, long, ago'.
The men had huge, bulging heads and puny bodies and
were so ugly and repellent that they were hounded and
hunted down by local tribesmen on horseback. Strangely,
the description of the ' invaders' tallied with the skeletons
originally discovered in the caves by professor Chi-Pu-Tei.
On the walls of the caves themselves archeologists had
uncovered crude pictures of the rising sun, the moon,
unidentifiable stars and the Earth.... all joined together by
lines of pea- sized dots. Along with the discs, cave drawings
had been dated around 12,000 years old.
The cave area was still inhabited by two semi-troglodyte
tribes known as the Hams and the Dropas themselves
extremely odd in appearance. The frail and stunted
tribesmen averaged only about 3’4 in height. They were
neither typically Chinese nor Tibetan. "There racial background'
said one expert, “is a mystery." But even with the
publication of Professor Tsum Um Nui's amazing
translation, the story of the 'space discs' was not over.
Russian scientists asked to see the discs and several were sent
to Moscow for examination. They were scraped free of rock
particles which had stuck to them and then put through
chemical analysis. To the surprise of the scientists they
were found to contain large amounts of cobalt and other
metallic substances. That was not all. when placed on a
special turntable-according to Dr. Vyatcheslav Saizev, who
described the experiments in the soviet magazine Sputnickthey
vibrated or ' hummed' in a unusual rhythm as though
an electric charge was passing through them. Or as one
scientist suggested "as if they formed some part of an
electrical circuit. “At some time, they had clearly been
exposed to extremely high voltages.
A report from China in 1995 also seems to support the tale
of the Dropas,. A new tribe had been found near the eastern
border of the Byan-Kara-Ula Mountains. The most
interesting fact about this new group of people--their
height---averaging 3 feet in height.

The Vatican's position on UFO's

Monsignor Corrado Balducci, a theologian member of the Vatican Curia (governing body), and an insider close to the Pope, has gone on Italian national television several times, including recent months, to proclaim that extraterrestrial contact is a real phenomenon.

Balducci provided an analysis of extraterrestrials that he feels is consistent with the Catholic
Church's understanding of theology. Monsignor Balducci emphasizes that extraterrestrial encounters "are NOT demonic, they are NOT due to psychological impairment, they are NOT a case of entity attachment, but these encounters deserve to be studied carefully."

 Since Monsignor Balducci is a demonology expert and consultant to the Vatican , and since the Catholic
Church has historically demonized many new phenomena that were poorly understood, his stating that the Church does not censure these encounters is all the more remarkable. Balducci revealed that the Vatican is closely following this phenomenon quietly. Originally surmised that the Vatican is receiving much
information about extraterrestrials and their contacts with humans from its Nunciatures (embassies) in various countries.

But subsequent information indicated that the Monsignor has gotten his cases from other sources. Monsignor Balducci is a member of a group which acts as consultants to the Vatican on various matters concerning humans in possible contact with supernatural beings. As such, the matter of extraterrestrial encounters would fall within their purview, and possibly as well the spiritual significance of the emerging general
Parallel information from National Security Council scientist Dr. Michael Wolf, a member of the NSC's SSG subcommittee for managing the UFO phenomenon, as well as from noted author and Vatican expert Father Malachi Martin, suggests that the Vatican is concerned that it will have a major doctrinal updating situation on its hands when extraterrestrial contact becomes authoritatively announced by world governments over
the next several years.

My favorite Knot is the double Hitch Knot I use it daily

Boats don't have ropes they have Lines----hold the end of line “A” in your right hand the rest of the line, line”B” in your left.

Lets secure the line to a deck fitting lets say a chain plate—Loop line “B” right to left around the object----loop it again below the first loop---so its wrapped twice around the object in this case a chain plate—line “B” should still be in your right hand and line “A” in your left hand with “B” crossing below “A” forming an “X”.

Poke the end of “B” down through the hole formed at the top of the “X”. Again “B” should be in your right hand.

Wrap “B” around “A” crossing first over the top, then underneath.

Bring the end up through the loop formed and pull the knot tight.-----Now that wasn't so bad was it?

About 1 ½ lb of chopped beef I use 85% you can use leaner beef but you will have trouble with it drying out.

1/3 of a yellow onion chopped

¼ green pepper chopped

1 celery stock finely chopped

3-4 mushrooms diced

½ package of salteens crumbled

Capt s seasonings be generous

1 egg

1/3 cup BBQ sauce

Mix together I form into a loaf or put into a bread pan either Pyrex or a cast iron works well for this . Spread some BBQ sauce over the top about 1/3 cup. Pop into a oven preheated to 400 degree's a Coleman camp stove also works well leave for an hour. This is a great simple meal to quickly put together great for left overs and a sandwiches also.

Garlic mashed potatoes :

1 ½ -2lb of Russet Potato's peeled and diced

1 Tsp Kosher salt

1 cup half&half or milk to be less creamy for you bikers and joggers out there!

3 cloves garlic crushed or 2 tsp minced store bought garlic

3 oz grated Parmesan

½ tbs Italian seasonings

Peeled and diced potatoes into a large sauce pan add salt cover with water bring to a boil reduce to a rolling boil/simmer cook until potatoes fall apart when poked.

In a sauce pan add half&half garlic Italian seasonings bring to a simmer and set aside.

Drain and mash the potatoes add cream mixture and Parmesan cheese mix and combine let stand 5 minutes.

Any vegetables go well with this but green beans in mushroom gravy is a classic.

You can do the green beans from scratch but this is a simple nurturing meal we are throwing together in between Capt 's Toddies so:

1 can French Green beans drain ½ the fluid add 1 can mushroom soup some times I drain all the fluid add ½ can milk add some spices usually basil a couple of cranks black pepper bring to a boil.

Enjoy—this is a good reheat for a quick meal to Nuke when you come home from a hard day in the boatyard messing about in boats!!

King Harod had nine wives, as did hid eldest son. His first wife was Doris, his eldest son was Antipater, son of Doris. Antipater’s first wife was Mariamne which was the Greek version of the name Mary.

Mary was in Greek terminology a virgin, which is interpreted as a young woman, she was fourteen at the time of her marriage into the family of King Herod as the wife of his oldest son Antipater. Mary was the daughter of the High Priest of Jerusalem Temple and prior to one of the most exalted positions in Judea he was Head Rabbi at the temple on the shore of Galilee in the town of Capernaum.

King Herod was more what we would consider a Governor today than a King he reported to the Roman Cesar and took direction from the Cesar and also didn't have complete control over the military as Rome did. But he pretty much had free rein over domestic affairs in Palestine Judea.

There was much turmoil in King Herod’s family the Kings sister Salome had much influence over him and was very influential in the decisions that he made. The King also was married to a Mariamne as a matter of fact to confuse matters there were at least six Mariamne in the king's family so when studying the Herod family this can be a bit confusing. Maria is the Greek shortened version of Mariamne so I will refer to Antipater’s wife as Maria which she was best known as to history.

Antipater spent much time in Rome and was best friends with Caesar Augustus. King Herod had many sons from his nine wives but his favorite son and eldest was Antipater who he decided to have as his successor. This was quite upsetting to Salome who had designs on the throne and her favorite nephew Phillip, eldest son of Mariamne, was someone she had influence over. She spent a great deal of time trying to influence the King in Antipaters absence, while o visits to Rome.

Caesar Augustus also had encouraged the King to select Antipater to succeed him, he endorsed the Kings decision and made a decree that Antipater’s children would be in line for kingship. According to Josephus the first century Roman historian Antipater was appointed as Herods successor and if Antipater should die first the son from the daughter of the High Priest would succeed him. Other sons from other wives of Antipater would only succeed if Mariamne or Maria didn't have any surviving children!!

The Gospel of Matthew states that Magi (usually translated as "wise men") but in this context probably meaning "astronomer" or "astrologer" arrived at the court of Herod in Jerusalem and told the king of a star which signified the birth of the King of the Jews.

Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, wise men from the East came to Jerusalem, saying, Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we have seen His star in the East and have come to worship Him. When Herod the king heard this, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him. And when he had gathered all the chief priests and scribes of the people together, he inquired of them where the Christ was to be born.

Herod was "troubled", not because of the appearance of the star, but because the magi told him that a "king of the Jews" had been born, which he understood to refer to the Messiah, a leader of the Jewish people whose coming was believed to be foretold in scripture. So he asked his advisors where the Messiah would be born. They answered Bethlehem, birthplace of King David, and quoted the prophet Micah. The king passed this information along to the magi.

Then Herod, when he had secretly called the wise men, determined from them what time the star appeared. And he sent them to Bethlehem and said, go and search carefully for the young Child, and when you have found Him, bring back word to me, that I may come and worship Him also. When they heard the king, they departed; and behold, the star which they had seen in the East went before them, till it came and stood over where the young Child was. When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceedingly great joy.

Historians now consider the birth of Christ to be shortly before the death of Herod, some put it January 6, 4 B.C. Dr. John Parkinson, Dr. David Clark and Dr. Richard Stephenson of the Quarterly Journal, of the Royal Astronomical Society of London suggest that the star of Bethlehem might have been a genuine, but rare, astronomical event that occurred in 5 B.C.

In the contemporary records of Chinese astronomers of the Han dynasty, they found reference to a brilliant star, brighter than any other star or planet in the heavens. It remained visible for three months. The astrologers of the Han dynasty maintained meticulous records of celestial events for astrological purposes, and many of their observations such as the Haley Comet in 12 B.C., can be confirmed by modern calculations.

According to Clark, Parkinson, and Stephenson there could only be one celestial event that would match the Chinese observation: a supernova, a colossal stellar explosion that, if occurring close enough to earth in our own galaxy, would appear suddenly, as if from nowhere, and remain for weeks, as a brilliant point of light visible to the naked eye. In our galaxy there are three known events to have happened in the last thousand years and perhaps a fourth as late as 2011. In 1054, 1572, and 1604 there were recorded supernovas.

Shanghai where the observation was made, is on the same Latitude as Bethlehem. Jesus birthday celebrated on December 25^th is not based upon any biblical account, it was set by Caesar Constantine after he established the Catholic Church at the council of Nicaea in 325 B.C.

Matthew's account suggests that the magi knew from the star that the "king of the Jews" had already been born even before they arrived in Jerusalem. The magi presented Jesus with gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh. In a “dream”, the magi were warned not to return to Jerusalem, so they "left for their own country by another road". When Herod realized that he had been tricked, he ordered the execution of all male children in Bethlehem age 2 and younger, based on the information the magi had given him concerning the time the star first appeared. Joseph, “warned in a dream”, took his family to Egypt for their safety.

The Gospel links the escape to a verse from scripture, interpreted as a prophecy: "Out of Egypt I called my son." This was a reference to the departure of the Hebrews from Egypt under Moses, so the quote suggests that Matthew saw the life of Jesus as recapitulating the story of the Jewish people, with Judea representing Egypt and Herod standing in for pharaoh. After Herod died, Joseph and his family returned from Egypt, and settled in Nazareth in Galilee.

This is said to be a fulfillment of, "He will be called a Nazorean," a prophecy of unknown origin. The ancients believed that astronomical phenomena were connected to terrestrial events. Miracles were routinely associated with the birth of important people, including the Hebrew patriarchs, as well as Greek and Roman heroes. The Star of Bethlehem is traditionally linked to the Star Prophecy in the Book of Numbers:

Salome immediately set to work to have Antipater indicted in a contrived plot to over throw the king. She did this to disgrace Antipater’s family and have him put to death and clearing the way for Phillip to become the heir of the throne of Judea.

Her chance came when her half-brother Pheroras failed in an attempt to poison the King and poisoned himself instead! With Pheroras dead Salome scribed a letter that would incriminate Antipater in the plot to assassinate the King. The letter was to have been sent to Antipater by his close friend Antiphilus, a high ranking civil servant in Eqypt. In this letter the entire plot was detailed.

Herod was quite sick and mentally deranged during this time suffering from paranoia from a disease that Josephus describes as distemper. Salome had little difficulty persuading Herod that the letter was genuine.

Antipater was in Rome spending time with his friend Caesar Augustus during this time and he received notice to return to Jerusalem immediately, but was unaware of the pending situation. Antipater arrived back in Jerusalem only to find himself arrested and thrown in jail. Although the Prince denied the accusations he confessed under brutal torture!

Salome was delighted but warned Herod not to execute him immediately but to gather more evidence because of his friendship with Caesar Augustus. Salome knew because of Caesar Augustus’s decree that Maria had to also be implicated.

Salome then had King Herod arrest his wife Doris and under torture she also confessed and implicated Maria in the plot. Before Maria could be arrested the situation came to the attention of the Governor of Syria who was an envoy of Caesar Augustus and was in Jerusalem at the time. Governor Quintilius Vara was the Roman commander of the military in the Eastern Medeterainian. And had control of the military in Judea and not King Herod.

Governor Quintilius Vara was immediately suspicious of the whole affair and wanted to personally investigate. King Herod flew into a rage and had Doris immediately removed from the palace so that the governor couldn't interview her and had Antipater immediately executed.

Governor Quintilius Vara immediately tried to contact Caesar Augustus and have King Herod removed but the time delay in that time was devastating. King Herod then raised the eagle effigy in the Jerusalem Temple in hopes of pleasing the Caesar in case he held him accountable for Antipater’s execution.

The priests of the Temple revolted and led a furious mob of the faithful that tore down the idol and Herod had them burnt alive. He then had high priest Mathias arrested and tortured to try to learn the location of his daughter Maria who had just given birth and was at an undisclosed location in hiding from the King.

Mathias did not know the location or did not give it up under torture he was eventually executed. All of this took place in the early weeks of 4 BC.

The bloody purge was next to follow that is known to history as the slaughter of the innocents. If Augustus knew that the son of Maria had survived he would have made him King.

It is very important to understand a few things about Jesus parents and Jewish law at this point to understand events that happened during his ministry and events surrounding the crucifixion.

First it is important to understand that Jesus came from an important aristocratic family in Capernaum. Jesus grandfather Mathias was the religious leader of Galilee which was a hotbed for zealots. Jesus was accepted as a religious leader in this area and had credibility and respect of the inhabitants of the area. Although he lived in Nazareth he frequently visited Capernaum and preached at his grandfather’s synagogue. Jesus through his mother, Maria and Grandfather High priest Mathias was of the house of David, a requirement, that the first and second messiah, need to meet.

It’s important to understand that Jesus was considered a Zealot, as were most of the people in Galilee and the Romans considered zealots to be the equivalent of modern day terrorists, their biggest crime is their refusal to pay taxes, which in itself is a death penalty in the Roman Empire, their absolute desire to undermine the Roman Empire and form a break away nation.

Some believe that there is a fine line in between the Essenes of Qumran and the Zealots. They believed in community rule, they wouldn't admit women or people with any sort of handicap. They were taught to hate their enemies, and their enemies were anyone who wasn't on page with them. They wanted to slay all Romans, they believed that the end was eminent and the end would be a final battle between the sons of light and the sons of darkness. They believed that the second messiah would not only be the King of the Jews but a holy man and a warrior also who would lead the fight against the sons of darkness.

It was thought that John the Baptist was the first Messiah and that Jesus was the second messiah. It is felt that the three wise men that visited King Herod and told him of the birth of the “King of the Jews” were Essenes from the Qumran. It is felt that both John the Baptist and Jesus were initially schooled by the Essenes and then broke away from them and started their own ministries. This is where they were during the mystery years.

However in Jesus ministry things were drastically different he preached love, turning away from violence he accepted women as equals as he did the gentiles and pagans---I will take a break before I continue with Jesus birth and short lived life

Right Over Left....Meal Plan

In Ashley's book of Knot tying there is described five thousand knots, all of which relate to eight basic knots. I will try to make daily posts to my blog and present a knot of the day and also a meal of the day I hope you enjoy

REEF KNOT

The reef knot or square knot is said to be the original Knot! An upgrade from the granny knot, or in some circles a thief knot. It is a binding knot used to secure a line around an object, frequently used to attach two seperate lines although this is not the best use for this knot because it is frequently tied incorrectly leaving one with a slip knot which can be quite dangerous on a vessel underway.

A sailor ties a reef knot by using two overhand knots—right over left and left over right leaving two bitter endseither at the top of the knot or the bottom. If you have one end on top and the other on the bottom you have a slip knot. A reef knot leaves the sailor with a Tidy and neat appearance, and is good and tight.

MEAL OF THE DAY

A few ingredients:

The captain's ship seasonings:

1 cup sea salt

¼ cup fresh cracked Black Pepper

¼ cup dried Basil

¼ cup Garlic Powder

I use these as a standard seasoning on all my recipe's even eggs I originally thought that the garlic would be offensive but when is garlic ever offensive? When ever I am doing poultry I always add paprika separately. I can also add onion powder, celery salt, rosemary, and so many other ingredients to the dish but these are always the basics. I just about always add extra virgin olive oil or (EVO) and frequently will add the ingredients to the olive oil and then dip the pieces of meat and vegetables into the seasoned oil. When ever you are baking or grilling either vegetables, meats, or fish you want to coat in oil the heat will sear the item and will cook from the inside out and won't dry out they will be moist and delicious and juicy.

Stuffing usually calls for 2 cups of water but I like to use chicken broth, however since most galleys especially on small boats don't normally have broth always on hand I use chicken noodle soup. When it calls for two cups that is exactly what chicken noodle soup is. Before I put on the soup I dice ½ an onion, ¼ green pepper,1/2 stick of celery a few mushrooms, hit them with a pinch or two of the Captains Seasonings and an once of EVO and sautee 5-10 minutes, add to the soup after at a boil for 2-3 minutes add the stuffing bread—we used a package this time –also works well with iron skillet corn bread or dried out bread heated in the oven until crisp with seasonings typically Italian Seasonings. After the stuffing is moistened coat the iron skillet with olive oil spread the stuffing evenly in the pan season both sides of three chicken breasts with the Captains seasoning and also sprinkle with paprika---one can of mushroom soup and ½ cup of milk stir until consistent you now have mushroom gravy. Spread evenly over the chicken and stuffing. Into a 400 degree preheated oven and bake for 30-45 minutes depending on the size of the breasts. At the end of the cook time if they are still dripping moist and pink on the inside put back in the oven for another 5-10 minutes. Goes well with any vegetable with this recipe I frequently serve with a canned vegetable corn or green beans.

It takes a cast iron pan very well and while you are on Amazon look for the Lodge Logic cast iron multi cooker which is a pot with a frying pan as a cover and also fits nicely into the Coleman Oven as a Dutch Oven excellent to make pot roasts or stews or any thing you would use a crock pot for. Also excellent to use as a deep fryer on stove top for fish and chips, crab cakes, doughnuts, and plantains. The multi cooker costs about $35.
